QUIT SMOKING GETTING SICK
I quit smoking 6 days ago. Is it true that you could get sick from quitting?

My throat has been SUPER scratchy the last couple days and I started coughing this morning…????
Thanks everyone – well, I’m 26 and have been smoking for 10 years. YES, 10 years. This is my FIRST (and last) attempt at quitting. I decided the wheezing, hacking cough and shortness of breath was enough to make me quit. Believe it or not, it has been EXTREMELY easy. I quit cold turkey (no gum or patch) and in 6 days I haven’t had one craving. I was smoking about 14 cigarettes a day – I had NO idea it was going to be this easy. It’s completely all in your head. If you want to quit, you will.

yes, it is a strange phenomenon. Sometimes the coughing is the coughing up of the crud that has accumulated in your lungs from the tar, etc. in the cigarettes. As your body begins to heal itself, that stuff starts to shake loose and come out.

But I found out and so did many of the people I know who quit that at first you might get a sore throat or a head cold, which seems so strange. It happened to me. But keep quit anyway, it’s better for you in the long run.
